Alpaca Rescue Continues

About two months ago my nephew forwarded a Craigslist post to me and said, "You need to help these alpacas."  Long story short, these two boys (father and son) are now here as our latest rescues.

They were not far from us and the owners had them for almost four years and they were NEVER sheared.  I'm surprised the older one survived the hot summer we had last year.  Needless to say they are a MESS and are unable to be shorn until this Spring which may be a good thing because they are like feral cats - pretty much left out in a field with little human contact.

They're a bit more trusting now but those pounds and pounds of matted, green with moss fiber will be going in the garbage when they're shorn.  That beautiful grey fiber - so sad!
