Alpaca Fiber

The value of alpaca fleece is the economic basis of the future market for alpacas. An alpaca breeder with a small herd on small acreage can expect to harvest his animals' fiber and sell their offspring profitably.

Most alpaca ranchers readily sell their fleece for $2 to $6 an ounce to local artisans. Each animal on average will produce five to eight pounds of fleece a year.

CC meets new little AJ!

A.J. (Almond Joy) is Here!

Our new little cria arrived on April 5. He joins his older brothers Cookies ‘n Creme (CC) and Hershey so we chose a name that continued the “sweets” tradition (thanks to our friends at Hopes & Dreams Alpacas for the suggestion).

He weighed over 16# and his left ear was a little bent but it is already straightening out.  This picture was taken just hours after he was born.  We put on his “cria coat” because the weather hasn’t been very warm.  Yesterday he started “humming” and was jumping around a bit so I’m sure he’ll be running by Farm Days!

Three Weeks and Counting…

Expectant moms are eating for two, right?  That’s just what White Out says as she sneaks in the room where we store the alpaca grain and takes a few extra bites right out of the grain bag!

We are hoping to have her new little one to show off at our Spring Farm Days planned for June 5-6.

Stay tuned for more “baby watch” photos!

Hershey, Mr. Teddy Bear and Matt

THANK YOU to everyone who visited us last weekend at our Fall Farm Days!  I think the alpacas were full of grain for two days afterward!

Congratulations to Matt whose name was drawn as the winner of the alpaca teddy bear!

We are considering a holiday open house later this year so you can visit the alpacas once again, enjoy soup and hot cider and also have a chance to purchase those unique Christmas gifts for family and friends.  We are also working on getting our online store up and running so check back soon for updates!

Alpaca Farm Days

A reminder that our Alpaca Farm Days are Sept 25-27 from 10:00 am – 5:00 pm.

All our alpaca products will be there and, most importantly, the alpacas will be there.

Our newest baby is here and his nickname is “Buddy” but we are having trouble choosing a registered name for him. We are looking for a name that starts with “Bell…” to keep all our Suris sounding the same. We have Belle, Bella and Bellagio so bring your names to Farm Days!

Alpaca Farm Days!

We are opening our farm to the public NEXT WEEKEND, June 6-7 for SPRING FARM DAYS. We will be open from 10 am – 4 pm each day.
You can meet our alpacas, feed them and learn more about these beautiful, intelligent animals from South America. Our farm is located at 8021 50th St E in SE Fife on the North side of the Puyallup River.
Our alpaca products store will also be open featuring items made from alpaca fiber such as yarn, rugs, hats, and even teddy bears!
The alpacas hope you’ll be able to stop by – they love extra grain!
